The Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) is the designated authority within the MFHEA responsible for evaluating and recognising qualifications in alignment with the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF).

MQRIC facilitates the recognition and comparability of academic and vocational qualifications, referencing both the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) to provide guidance on local and international qualifications. It also supports the recognition of Maltese qualifications abroad.

Additionally, MQRIC serves as Malta’s official ENIC-NARIC centre and is part of the wider ENIC-NARIC Network.

Recognition statements for qualifications may be required for various purposes, including further studies, job applications or promotions, qualification allowances, tax rebates, scholarship schemes, and single permit, visa, or citizenship applications through Jobsplus, among others.

To streamline the recognition process, MQRIC has introduced a new online system, developed through the ESF Project 1.227 ‘Making Quality Visible’. This system allows users to download recognition statements directly from the website. As a result, MQRIC no longer accepts applications in person or via email.

To verify whether your qualification is recognised, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Your qualification may have already been recognised or compared with a specific MQF level. The MFHEA maintains an online register of accredited further and higher educational institutions and recognised courses. If your qualification appears in the List of Already Accredited Courses, it is recognised, and no application for qualification assessment is necessary.

Step 2: If your qualification comes from a self-accrediting institution, all qualifications issued by these institutions must display the MQF level on the certificate. Similarly, any other accredited institution in Malta offering home-grown courses must include the relevant MQF level on the certificate and inform students of this level before they begin the course.

Step 3: If your qualification is not listed in Step 1 or Step 2, you may submit an application for recognition by accessing the online system.

Step 4: If you require a fast-track procedure, you can select the relevant option after entering your programme details.

Requests for reissuance of statements will only be considered if the programme of study has been reviewed within the last 12 months. A €2 posting charge applies, along with any applicable bank charges. For programmes not reviewed recently, a new verification process will be required, and a new application must be submitted.
