Can you Renew the Malta Golden Visa?

Yes, you can renew the Malta Golden Visa. Initially, residence cards are granted for 5 years, except if a minor dependent turns 14 or 18, in which case the card ends on their birthday.

To renew after the 5-year period, you need to go through your agent. Biometric data must be retaken before extending the cards, so all beneficiaries should be in Malta for this after the first 5 years. You won’t need to pay the large fees associated with the first application, as there’s only a fee of €27.50 per year for renewals.

Here’s what you need for the renewal:

  1. Updated Health Insurance Policy
  2. Valid Passport
  3. Current Maltese Residency Card
  4. Updated Lease Agreement or Purchase Agreement

Important Note: After the fifth year, once the compliance procedure is approved, you can choose to move to a new residential property without a minimum price requirement. Then, the residency card can be issued for this new address.
